Few months back, an audacious midget from Ghana named Shatta Bandle claimed to be the wealthiest man across the continent. On his social media pages, Shatta bandle displayed a variety of luxury cars and mansions saying he walks the talk, speaking the “money no be problem” language. In no time, Shatta Bandle’s videos went viral on social media, and instantly he became comic relief for many people who watched his videos.
Later, he gained interviews on Ghanaian radio stations, and rapidly he gained the attention of bloggers across the country. He was ridiculed, but steadily, Shatta Bandle became an online sensation, crossed borders and found his way into Nigeria, due to his popularity. In Nigeria, he was hosted by Paul Okoye, now known as Rudeboy (formerly a member of the defunct group, P-Square), and even featured in his music video for track Audio Money. Well, you may find his act very silly and may condemn his folly, but in reality, Shatta Bandle has found a way to make money online. He follows the likes of Mr. Eventuarry, a Ghanaian taxi driver, who also became a social media sensation with the catchy phrase: ‘you don’t know why is going on’, and found a way to cash in using his fame.
